VHS Tapes

July 25, 2021

Tapes are the comrades to simplicity.

cassette click.

Margherita pizzas our incense.

indeed a mouldy remnant of earlier times

but the only place left to see long gone family

like mufasa from the lion king.

an era of swiping

meaning karate hits we blocked from cousins

who are now blocked from Facebook

but talking about finding love,

renting Casablanca taught us it was

soul connection than shallow attraction.

the thing about tapes.

always picking up from the exact place left off.

unlike unfinished sentences that

never broke free from our mouths.

as they become a faded fragment of this century

 they chant

‘if simplicity is life

tapes are the comrades to simplicity.’
