To Dance with the Shadows

April 25, 2024

Let me fetch the courage to live,
From the well on the outskirts of my city,
Where the forest casts its long shadows,
When the night spreads her soft velvet cloak

Let me fetch the strength from its depths
To not give up on myself right away,
To not curse my dark sides so completely,
That, soon, there’s nothing of me left again

Let me fetch a flame from it and light a fire
In every corner of my soul – dark and damned,
So I can dance with the shadows on the forest’s edge
Instead of always having to be scared

Michael Balner

Michael Balner is a privacy professional born in Czechia, he lives in Oslo, Norway. He started to write poetry only a year ago, during a period of a personal crisis. For him, writing is a means to get in touch with his deepest feelings and his inner parts. It has become a part of his therapy, healing of his childhood/youth complex traumas and a part of his search for his higher, pure self. He hopes that his readers can relate to his poems and hopefully will feel a little less alone with their own troubles and battles.
