On a day like this

dawn hauls herself upright

pink fingers curling above the rim

on a day like this

queuing for basics among empty shelves

spilt frozen peas scrunch underfoot

on a day like this

on a day like this

self-isolation, food delivery delayed

my mouth full of dust

on a day like this

magpies rustle gum leaves

I walk alone

in sunshine

two plovers lead the way

down the bush track
