The End of the Beginning

So at last we made CBS

Saw the burnt out rubble at seven

Eden on earth that piece of heaven

(or so they said)

 

Burnt now, all smoke and loot and sand

as the great silence of death fell on the land

And oh the poor people

too afraid to take a stand

 

And those who died…

stabbed and stopped and rammed

into the dirty godforsaken humid

golden shimmering tourist beach sand

 

While faced with the cameras

Still  the children

(they must have read the brochures)

still the awesome children smiled

their awesome smile
