One Magical Night

One Magical Night
Down in the meadows:
On the lustrous green,
Sprawled beneath:
In the shade of the old oak tree,

Surrendered in my thoughts…..

My eyes glimpsed:
The sweet lilies bloom,
Beside the gushing stream:
Breathing the scented spray,

Profound!

As the purple mountains fell asleep:
Through the shadows of the drowning sun,
I heard the music and:
The tingling dancing bells,

Astonished!

I perplexed stood unmoved:
Like an alabaster statue.
Tiny elves, they did peep:
Ran down the pastures of the exquisite green,

Tip… Toe…

Mesmerized in rhythm and dance:
They formed into a magical ring.
Where the toadstools bloomed,
Eyes twinkling and ears tipped.

Faint whispers……

Elfin girls delicate in white lily petal gowns:
Elfin boys, mischievous, in green lily leaves,
Shook their tambourines,
Dancing in a joyous mood.

I watched spellbound!

The Queen of elves descended:
A shining silver wand in her dainty hand,
She sat with grace on the giant toadstool,
Her gown draped flimsy, with soft pink rose petals.

Fragrance in the air……

Overjoyed and fascinated by her visit:
The Elfin kids danced around her feet.
She waved her wand which spread elf dust…
Enchanting, the magical world.

I witnessed!

Long time ago when the Grimm’s lived
They wrote of elf men.
Tonight I watch the elf world,
O! The joy of…

Fairy Tales!

Squeals of laughter
Faded away,
My eyes searched why?
Sky was dark and spangled with glistening tiny stars.

Bewildered I gazed!

A group of enthusiastic elves:
Emerged, clad in rusty leaves.
Carrying berries and honey,
On tiny berry bush leaves,

The feast! They enjoyed….

In a flash I remembered,
The Brownie ring:
During my good old school days.
I wore the elf patch with pride,

Stood up in utmost haze….

Swaying in the music of the breeze, I sang
“This is what we do as elves,
Think of others not ourselves”
The elfin children sang with me.

The majestic queen smiled…

Morn was dawning:
The elves had to leave,
They have to fly away beyond the mountains deep.
A teardrop fell on my cheek.

Time to say Good Bye…

The queen of elves;
Waved at me,
Plucked a rose petal,
She gave it to me.

Fingers tiny touched my palm…

It’s a souvenir,
I treasure so much.
Pressed between pages,
Of my precious poetry notepad!

I adore the fantasy of fairy tale land….
