July 25, 2024

lost this moonless night
without a starry guide
where the black dog herds
and the midnight cat’s claws
click across weary stones.
lost where white

gloom’s black fingers
curl and stretch
scratching away layers,
the regrets and missteps
until my noh mask slips
and I am undone
