First Spring Blossoms

April 25, 2025

first spring blossoms
streaming down in the
hot-pink wind
against an azure sky
one by one
exuding
their spicy perfume
into the earth’s pores
intoxicating scents
swirling
around & around
making the air
heavy & drunk

below inside
the mother tree
a cluster of blue flowers
sprouting like children
opening
their arms
heavenward
awaiting their maturity
to shed
their petals
to pour out their
fiery fragrance
to become
one with the
earth
