Aunty

July 25, 2026

Now that we’ve been 40
Best to be accepting aunty
Better than dreaded behenji
Though not by much at all

Do you dread accepting uncle
Is it better than funny sirji
Though you get that dignified bhaisaab
And are lucky to have janaab

No one wants to be a Madam
But there’s no accepting aunty
Mango Fruity we still juicy
Though we love being a maasi
Phuphi chitti khala mashi
Kinwords best when tongues are desi
English leaves us feeling… Ugh.

Don’t want to be an aunty
Glad we’ll never be an uncle
We can all agree on this one
Streets of Bombay thanks for this one
Can you please just call us Boss.

But with boss there’s such hierarchy
There’s still dreams of equality
We will never be an aunty
Don’t you dream of saying bhabi
Please just call us by our
Name.

Status Updates

I’m delighted
I’m excited
I’ve been cited
I’ve been knighted.

Things got blighted
Disinvited
Extradited
And Indicted.
