The Sunken Boat

January 25, 2020

She’s gone! Moved out of sight.

Consumed by

a wave of might. The

mystery caused a little

stir, Until life resumed

without her.

Lost at sea without a trace, Her sail

was up when she went down in

haste. No hint of a storm or rough

sea, Not far from the banks for such a

tragedy.

Close to the banks? And no one

noticed? How could such a sight

be missed? The sea was calm on

the surface, Howling and hissing

beneath like a furnace.

Glistening above, a magical

mirage, That fooled seasoned

sea-lovers at large. The

unfortunate soul went ignored,

Crying for help but no one came

aboard.

The few who saw never imagined,

She was floundering, at the mercy

of the wind. Rising to the challenge

to battle it all, Alas! Without

support she had to fall.

At the bed of the ocean rediscovered,

By a diver, intrigued her story must be

uncovered. Nursing a broken bow and

battered mast, He could see she’d fought till the very last.

With her dignity mended and calmed, He

knew she’d resurrect long after the harm.

One look at the wretch, he knew she felt

cheated, Though embattled, she stood

strangely undefeated
