Feelings

January 25, 2024

Like shivering stars sprinkled over a black carpet of tonight,
the silver bubbles rise from the bottom of the ocean of my mind

and like the stars, linked together into animals and heroes – all by us,
they, too, linked together, form a precious, yet a thin and fragile line.

A bubble joins bubble, a word joins word, from the depth, up they rise
and I seize their sublime chain with all my power and I pull myself
against their stream – I am going down

to meet the hidden source of feelings from which these words were born,
I need to face them raw, unspoiled, and inhale them before I press them
into an iron mould;

before I shape them by my reason, before they make too much sense,
before I destroy their pure transcendent essence, which they have always
carried inside them and from which they were made.

Michael Balner

Michael Balner is a privacy professional born in Czechia, he lives in Oslo, Norway. He started to write poetry only a year ago, during a period of a personal crisis. For him, writing is a means to get in touch with his deepest feelings and his inner parts. It has become a part of his therapy, healing of his childhood/youth complex traumas and a part of his search for his higher, pure self. He hopes that his readers can relate to his poems and hopefully will feel a little less alone with their own troubles and battles.
