A Talk about Colour

Equity and Justice are overpowering ideas
Yet everything not legitimate exists today
That deserves not a space to hide and attack
On exploration of the natural environment around
One may come across it as a word – Environmental Racism
Taking a toll on the rights of people
Showing different tendencies like skin colour
Or more so even economic status.
Danny Glover states as – “If there are two talks
One must mention the environment, the other racism
Believe it or not the kids in Los Angeles have a third
Of the lung capacity of those in Santa Monica
Needs urgent attention”.
An apt explanation of this derives from
Policies and rules hitting bad certain communities
With repulsive land uses and relaxed enforcement
Of zoning and environmental laws creating threats
Exposures to toxic and hazardous waste of race.
Two buds from warehouse living narrated stories
Pursuing asthma as a normal occurrence from trucks
Parked in neighbourhoods of Spanish-speaking families
Under brown or black huts floating in pollution.
So, what are the ways to slacken these evil roots?
Organizations and people coming together to mend
The mindsets of people with effective training
To threshold communities in their response to legal policies
And voices not disappearing in gloom before a door
If we do this we soon overcome the shackles and the talk
Of colour through the aid of humanity.
