I was a Candle, Lit for a Poet

October 25, 2022

He who burnt me to become the best poet!
Because of her unstoppable gift for poetry writing, he courted her. He believed that she would have composed her best verses for someone else.
Her muse made his life one of content and out of the ordinary…
Her poetry grew less and less valuable to him over time. He went in search of another heart for his simple desires despite the fact that she was hurt deeply and grieved sadly.
When she saw him leave her for someone else, she lost the ability to hold her heavy heart and collapsed to the ground; weeping eyes closed by veiling the awful sight and her lips whispered to the tense air “I’ll never compose poems again, except for this final one”
Her clever fingers seized the familiar stylus and wrote her final verses while sobbing, blending her separation pain with her fine words.
Until this very moment, she melted her innate poetic talent to compose poetry for him – who became well recognized for his ‘effortless lyrical aptitude’.
Hours, days, weeks and months passed;
In a symposium where all the poets gather to showcase their talents, he is given the award of ‘the best poem’ amid applause,
for his poem titled
“I was a candle, lit for a poet”
