On the Banks of the Nile

And where the matter began
I settled on the banks of the Nile
I beg your pardon
And the magic carpet overlooked me
It exhausted me
It planted me like green satin
With shining flashes
And I do not care
If this age
Is about to leave my courtyard
Or exaggerate
in its demands
Or abandon me in bouquets of roses
A few strange petals
I am the hunter of stubborn rhymes
The daughters of poetry befriended me
Wanting more advancement
And the daughters of the houris forgot me
Please do not cross
Here was and will be
My dwelling
A hut of emerald
Or a cave of ruby
I do not know
Except that
In ancient times
I poured love
On the shores of my world
And I was satisfied
To be the lamp
When wishing
