Medusa

First it was gold
the untold story
raindrops in the garden
of longing

she wrote it down
tore it, ate the words
they were anything but sweet
swallowed hard

what gorgon
that was just a bad hair day
my ringlets my pearls
how many men were lost really
in transformation

translation
what was my part
nothing could have changed
that history

demon star my third eye
blinking hissing
would you take me again
as monster
eyes ready to feast

she woke elsewhere
paradox at her heart
beauty and horror
sea serpent stone

in motion like vipers
no longer easy

more than some fake bird
swooped stole violated
a body no longer mine
medicine and poison

reclaimed
stone mountain
no greedy god will reckon
